Philosecurity is a collection of articles about security, philosophy, and privacy. Written by Sherri Davidoff, Philosecurity explores the impact of technology in our society and the tradeoffs between efficiency and freedom.
Sherri is the founder of LMG Security, which also runs the Network Forensics Puzzle Contest. She specializes in penetration testing, forensics, vulnerability assessments and incident response. Sherri is the co-author of “Network Forensics: Tracking Hackers Through Cyberspace” (Prentice Hall, 2012). She is a GIAC-certified forensic examiner (GCFA) and penetration tester (GPEN), and she holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT.

I was just checking back to see if you’re posting again… sad to see you’re not but hope you’re OK…
9/4/2012-we just received (another) BofA letter containing two new Visa credit cards w/the explanation that our “…account may have been compromised…”. Similar letters were received twice last year requiring us to advise all recurring charge recipients of new numbers. There is no indication of how, or where the purported compromising occurred. I note, in reading other COMMENTS (2010) that this compromising appears to be an ongoing problem w/BofA.
